A typical day in Vigo by Elena

On Thursday my Exchange student and I left the house at 8:40 to walk to school.
The Spanish students went to their classes while the Germans took a bus to go to Samil Beach. We walked by the sea for around an hour, which was very beautiful and calming.
 After that we visited a museum about the ancestors of Vigo and the way they lived here. There even were parts of their houses left that we learned something about. The weather became very beautiful at around 12, so we decided to go swimming in the sea. It was very, very cold but the sea in Germany is even colder. And when i told my parents that I went swimming in the sea in march, they actually got a little jealous.Then it was time to go back to school to pick up our Spanish friends-and they took us to a shopping mall to buy some souvenirs. The stores there are unbelievably cheap compared to the german ones! After we had finished our shopping trip we went outside to visit the “castro”, a mountain in Vigo. The way up there was exhausting but we stopped at a playground where we met some cool, very sportive guys that taught us some gymnastics at the playground. When we arrived at the top the sun was already going down so we decided to stay there for the sunset.
We had an amazing view over the city and harbor of Vigo and we took way too many photos. We listened to our favorite music and had fun together while enjoying the gorgeous sunset and I think we were like real friends and if you wouldn’t have known, you could have thought that we know each other for more than only a week.


  

After that it was time for us to go home because it already was pretty late (the Spanish people stay outside much longer than we do in Germany) and we went home. There we watched my excahnge student’s favourite TV show and went to sleep because it was a very tiring day.

I have to say it was tough at first because I am not used to sleep with someone near me, except from my sister or some friend but always for less than a week. It was a very exhausting week, we did a lot of things and we had so much fun, even when the situation was a little bit awkward because we didn't knew each other very well, even between us (the galician students). On the first day I had to take Maike to a chemistry lesson in the afternoon but we skipped the second one and we went with other exchange students to Castrelos and later Maike came training with me. On the second day we went to the Cíes Islands and we even got into the water, we ended very tired of walking. On the third day some of us met to go to the shops street at the city centre and to the old part of the city, then Maike and I went training. Building sand sculptures at the beach/04.04.17

Vigo- Erasmus- Exchange 04.04.17 We went to the beach in the afternoon on Tuesday. There we got paired in groups in which German and Spanish students were mixed together. We got the order to build octopuses made of sand. My group started to get water from the ocean to tighten the sand we would use to build the octopus. We build a big sandheap as a basis for the following details. Afterwards we divided our group into smaller groups and gave different tasks away. I was suppossed to form the tentacles with other group members. Another group started to smoothen the surface of the sandheap and another one tried to give the octopus some characteristics by creating a beautiful face. It took us some time to create the perfect octopus. After some hours all the groups had to finish their work so we would able to admire the sand sculptures we created.
