Activities by Gemma & Alba

¡Hola!

We’re Gemma and Alba and we’re having a great time in Vigo! We now would like to tell you about our yesterday activities.

First we got up in the morning at about 7:15, which is quite late in comparison to what the Germans are used to, as their school already starts at 7:45...
After the usual morning coffee at „tú y yo“ we went to school at nine and there already split up because we Germans went a la playa (to the beach) and the Spanish unfortunately had to go to school.

Even if not everything went as planned,- as for example the toilets were closed and Marisa lost 30 cents because we didn’t understand the Spanish sign that said it was broken and the fact that we or at least some of us were looking foreword to swimming in the sea wasn’t possible because our teachers had planned a museum visit - we had a fun day. We sang along to YMCA with Mrs Thiele and listened to lots of 80s hits. After the (a little boring) museum visit about the ancient roman houses that were dug out at that place a few of us went swimming- for about 5 minutes... We were told we didn’t have enough time because the bus would come in 20 minutes, yet ended up waiting another half an hour at the bus station listening to Jailhouse Rock.

A few moments later after having have taken seat in a quite empty bus at last being able to sit we met up again with our Spanish exchange partners and split up again. Alba and I went home for lunch which as a matter of fact tasted very good! Rice with pork (porca! )- another word I added to the list of things and words I learned in vigo; like my new favourite word “gaviota” (seagul:). I’m quite proud to be able to say that list gets longer and longer each day as I mostly speak spanish with Alba and her family :) I even taught her some German words like “mir gehts super” or the numbers from one to ten- even if the two is difficult to remember sometimes and I had to explain what the weird dots on the u are supposed to mean (fünf- five).
Later that day we went to the park with the family and walked around a little between beautiful green meadows and trees - I even climbed one, which was kind of fun. After that going to another park, we did not know we would meet the others per coincidence, we were dancing happily to the 80s music (as always). So we watched the sun go down together talking, laughing and taking pictures together and making nice memories in Spain.

As one of my wishes to do in Vigo was to try original Spanish churros we finally went to “qué churros” in the evening and had fried churros with sugar and chocolate. Not very healthy but worth it... When I asked Alba how she could eat her churros with sugar and chocolate she just answered well I don’t eat them very often but for once it’s ok...
