Differences between Spain and Germany by Jasmin and Marisa

So, first of all hola y’all!
We’re Marisa and Jasmin and we noticed some kind of interesting differences between Spain and Germany. Let’s start with the mealtime, which is way later here in Vigo. In our hostfamilies we usually have dinner at 9:30-10pm, that is two hours ish later than we know it from Germany. Also in general the whole day is later. For example there are some students who have classes until 10pm. Furthermore people aren’t tired that early so they go to bed later.
We also noticed  a few little things at spanish homes that are different. All of us Germans were a bit confused when we first entered our new “home” and our hostfamily didn’t take off their shoes. Instead, they just walk around with them all over the appartment which is sort of weird isn’t it? Then there were the beds; covered with layers and layers of blankets. Back home we have one, maybe two blankets on top of eachother, but here in Spain it is always more. The next strange thing that faced us was that there are no binsin the washrooms. What should we do with our garbage, and what do they usually do? Just weird anf funny questions with no really practical answer.

2 month later;
Our spanish exchange partners are now visiting us in Hamburg, and there are still some new differences occuring, like the bicycle problem. In Vigo most students take the bus to go to school, whereas here the bikes are used more often. As turned out, many of the Spanish are not even able to ride bikes, they just never learned it! So I decided to teach my exchange partner how to ride one. It was fun, and it worked, so that we were actually taking the bike one day to go to school.
Often she was fascinated by the greenlandsacpe here in Germany. Before, I’ve never really payed attention to it, but now, where she said so, I started to think how true it was. I learned to appreciate all of  our green trees, grass and plants more, by keeping in mind that not all countries are blessed with this fresh, beautiful color of summer. Isn’t it lovely?
